Project details:
Chris was at the early stages of a self-build project in Huntingdon when he gave us a call. Chris explained he wanted the new family home to be as green as possible and was keen to explore the possibility of having an air source heat pump installed to provide the heating and hot water for the property.
Roly went through the property plans with Chris and confirmed the installation of an air source heat pump was an ideal solution to meet the families’ energy demands.
Roly recommended a 16kW Panasonic Aquarea Air Source Heat pump. An Aquarea in an innovative new, low-energy system, designed to help home owners enjoy ideal temperatures and hot water in their home, even with extreme outdoor temperatures. It works by capturing fresh air to heat the property to ensure maximum comfort. Chris was pleased to discover the Aquarea is far cleaner, safer, cheaper and environmentally friendly than alternatives using gas, oil and other electrical systems.
Roly designed a system ready for Chris’ approval. He suggested putting the heat pump on the south facing wall and installing the 400 litre hot water tank and 800 litre buffer tank in the plant room. Chris was pleased with all the information received and placed an order with us.
Sam and Carl installed the heat pump, hot water and buffer tanks, radiators and pipe work before connecting the system to the underfloor heating and commissioning the system. Chris is planning on having solar photovoltaic (PV) panels fitted, once installed the solar panels will contribute towards the running of the heat pump.
Chris has now moved in and is enjoying lower energy bills and an income from the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
