Location:

Project details:
Jane and Colin moved in to Willow Cottage 15 months ago, following a move from Chester to be closer to their daughter and grandson. The cottage ran on LPG with a 2200 litre tank situated under-ground. 8 months after they moved in, the market price of LPG rose by 80% which prompted Jane and Colin to look in to an alternative solution.
With no main-gas in the village, Colin decided to investigate the suitability of having a renewable heating system installed. Colin had seen an E-On advert on the television and arranged for the company to give him a quote. E-On visited but never returned a proposal even though Colin chased them on several occasions. After researching heat pumps further, Colin was pleased to find Eco Installer, and popped in to the Ely office to find out more.
Following a brief meeting with Roly, a site survey was arranged which concluded a NIBE 16kW was needed to meet the family’s heating and hot water demands. The heat-loss calculations indicated the need to replace several of the radiators throughout the house with larger radiators to adequately heat those areas.
Jack and his apprentice Kier started on site by removing the existing hot water tank out of the upstairs airing cupboard and Colin arranged for LPG tank to be taken from the garden. The team installed the NIBE air source heat pump unobtrusively to the side of the house in the garden and the cylinders and controls were installed neatly to one side of the double-garage. Following the installation, our specialist team completed the project by insulating all the pipe work.
Colin and Jane are delighted to be using a renewable heating system and are pleased that their energy bills will now remain roughly the same, unlike a fossil fuel heating system. Once the project was complete, Colin applied for the Governments Renewable Heat Incentive and was pleasantly surprised at how easy the application process was.
Testimonial:
I made the decision to investigate alternative heating systems as my LPG supply was becoming expensive with apparently little control over price increases – an 80% increase in 8 months! Environmentally I was not happy with burning gas if there could be a different method.
After seeing an EON advert on the television for Air Source Heat Pumps I started to look at various installers, including EON, but after a slow quotation process I decided to look for a local installer and this is when I came across ECO Installer.
I called in to the offices and received a friendly and helpful response and after a good chat with Roly a survey was arranged and the process started.
I was impressed with the efficiency and professionalism from the initial assessment to the final installation.
Five months later the system is running well and has provided us with warmth and hot water throughout the winter at a very competitive energy usage.
